Better and Lasting

Do you really know what the entire world is worth compared to Paradise? You would think that all the money and amazing cars, the glorious palaces and servants, and traveling to the most scenic beaches is the height of satisfaction right? Well, it’s not. It’s not even worth the tiniest place in the vast grandeur of Paradise! You can be given every sort of pleasure today, right this moment, but it would melt in comparison to the pleasure of the Hereafter. Don’t make this world your final goal and throw away your enduring happiness. Don’t think for a second that money, cars, and houses is what we live for. If it really mattered to Allah, he would have given everyone these pleasures. What He wants for us is far better and lasting. Keep working for it and try to imagine from time to time your place in Paradise. You’ll soon know why you sacrificed everything for it, Insha’Allah.

The Prophet (salah allahu ‘alayhi wa salam) said, “A (small) place equal to an area occupied by a whip in Paradise is better than the (whole) world and whatever is in it.” [Bukhari]

FRAUD ALERT (Be alert be safe)

A lady has changed her habit of how she lists her names on her cell phone after her handbag was stolen. Her handbag, which contained her cell phone, credit card, wallet, etc., was stolen. 20 minutes later when she called her hubby, from a pay phone telling him what had happened, hubby says 'I received your text asking about our Pin number and I've replied a little while ago.' When they rushed down to the bank, the bank staff told them all the money was already withdrawn. The thief had actually used the stolen cell phone to text 'hubby' in the contact list and got hold of the pin number. Within 25 minutes he had withdrawn all the money from their bank account.

Moral of the lesson:

1. Do not disclose the relationship between you and the people in your contact list. Avoid using names like Home, Honey, Sweetheart, Hubby, Dad, Mum, etc.

2. And very importantly, when sensitive info is being asked through texts, CONFIRM by calling them back.

3. Also, when you're being messaged (Texted) by friends or family that to meet them somewhere, Make sure to call back to confirm that the message came from them. If you are not able to reach them, then be careful about the going places to meet 'family and friends' who messaged you.

Forgiveness on Laylatul Bara’ah

Forgiveness on Laylatul Bara’ah

The night of Bara'ah (emancipation) the 15th night of Sha'baan is indeed a significant and blessed night. On this night, Allah Ta'ala showers His servants with special and divine mercy.

It is recorded in the Ahadith that all Muslims are forgiven on this night besides the following:

1. Idolaters
2. Those who harbour enmity against others
3. Those who consume alcohol
4. Those who disobey their parents
5. Those who commit murder
6. Those who sever family ties
7. Those who wear their trousers, kurtas, lungis, etc. below their ankles

We should, at this time, take stock of ourselves. Are we of those that will be deprived of Allah’s mercy on this night due to our evil actions? If we find ourselves guilty of the above evil actions then we need to rectify ourselves.

RECOMMENDED ACTIONS FOR THE NIGHT OF BARA'AH:

Salaah – Salaah is the most preferred form of Ibadah for this night. It should be noted that there is no particular number of Rakaats to be read on this night.

Tilaawat – the recitation of the Holy Quran is very beneficial on this night.

Zikr – engage in the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala with the tongue and heart.

Dua – the greatest benefit one can draw from the blessings of this night is through Dua and supplication. The recommended Dua for this night is:

أَعُوذُ بِعَفْوِكَ مِنْ عِقَابِكَ وَأَعُوذُ بِرِضَاكَ مِنْ سَخَطِكَ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْكَ لَا أُحْصِي ثَنَاءً عَلَيْكَ أَنْتَ كَمَا أَثْنَيْتَ عَلَى نَفْسِكَ
(O' Allah) I take refuge in your forgiveness from your punishment, and I take refuge in your pleasure from your anger and I take refuge in you from you. I cannot praise you as you ought to be praised. You are as you have praised yourself. (Shuabul Imaan)

Today's Food of Thought: Culture & Religion

Culture came from People. Religion came from Allah. So remember when you choose culture over Religion, you're choosing people over Allah.
