Forgiveness on Laylatul Bara’ah

Forgiveness on Laylatul Bara’ah

The night of Bara'ah (emancipation) the 15th night of Sha'baan is indeed a significant and blessed night. On this night, Allah Ta'ala showers His servants with special and divine mercy.

It is recorded in the Ahadith that all Muslims are forgiven on this night besides the following:

1. Idolaters
2. Those who harbour enmity against others
3. Those who consume alcohol
4. Those who disobey their parents
5. Those who commit murder
6. Those who sever family ties
7. Those who wear their trousers, kurtas, lungis, etc. below their ankles

We should, at this time, take stock of ourselves. Are we of those that will be deprived of Allah’s mercy on this night due to our evil actions? If we find ourselves guilty of the above evil actions then we need to rectify ourselves.

RECOMMENDED ACTIONS FOR THE NIGHT OF BARA'AH:

Salaah – Salaah is the most preferred form of Ibadah for this night. It should be noted that there is no particular number of Rakaats to be read on this night.

Tilaawat – the recitation of the Holy Quran is very beneficial on this night.

Zikr – engage in the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala with the tongue and heart.

Dua – the greatest benefit one can draw from the blessings of this night is through Dua and supplication. The recommended Dua for this night is:

(O' Allah) I take refuge in your forgiveness from your punishment, and I take refuge in your pleasure from your anger and I take refuge in you from you. I cannot praise you as you ought to be praised. You are as you have praised yourself. (Shuabul Imaan)

Today's Food of Thought: Culture & Religion

Culture came from People. Religion came from Allah. So remember when you choose culture over Religion, you're choosing people over Allah.

Variation of Where Adam, Eve, and Iblis Descended:

There are many traditions concerning the place of Adam's descent upon earth. Ibn Abi Hatim narrated that Ibn Abbas said: "Adam descended on land 'Dihna' between Mecca and Taif." Al-Hassan said that Adam descended in India and Eve in Jeddah [Saudi Arabia], Iblis Bodistiman [Iraq], and the serpent in Ashahan [Iran]. This last was also reported by Ibn Hatim. Ass'ady related that Adam descended with the Black Stone [a large black stone set into the wall of the ka'ba in Mecca. It is said to have come from Paradise] in India, and he had a handful of the seeds of Paradise. He sowed them in India and they grew into the fragrant tree therein. Ibn Umar said that Adam descended on As-Safa and Eve on Al Marwa [ names of two mountains in the vicinity of the sacred house in Mecca. Part of the rites of pilgrimage [hajj] includes pacing between these two hills in commemoration of Hajar's search for water]. This was also reported by Ibn Hatim. Abdul Razzaq reported that Abi Musa Al-shari said that when Allah ordered Adam to descend from Paradise to earth, He taught him the making of everything and provided him with the crops from Paradise. Abu Hurairah narrated that the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said: "The best of days on which the sun has risen is Friday. One this day Adam was created, and on this day he was descended to earth." | al Bukhari |

What is Night of Salvation [Shab-e-Bara'at] and How to Spend it?

Laylat al-Bara’ah  Night of Salvation

https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs221.snc4/38413_415005305333_672380333_5256340_3886437_n.jpg

The 15th night of Shabaan is a very blessed night. According to the Hadith Shareef, the name of this Mubarak night is “Nisf Sha'baan” which means 15th night of Shabaan. The reason for this special night to attain its name of Laylat al-Bara’ah, meaning the Night of Salvation, Seeking Freedom from Torment and Calamity, is that in this night the blessing and acceptance of repentance may be accomplished. Laylat al-Baraa’ah in Persian, as well as in Urdu, is called Shab-e Bara’at. It is the special night of seeking forgiveness and repenting to Almighty Allah, remembering our past sins and sincerely settling the mind that one will never commits sins in the future. All the deeds that are against Shari’ah must be totally avoided so that our Du’a and Istighfaar, hopefully, will be accepted.
A Letter of Imam al-Ahl as-Sunnah towards All Muslims

Imam of Ahl as-Sunnah, Mujaddid [Revivalist] of the Ummah, Allamah, Mawlana, Al-Haaj, Al-Hafidh, Al-Qari, Ash-Shah Imam Ahmad Rida Khan [Alaihir raHmah wa ar-Ridwan] wrote a letter to one of his disciples emphasizing repentance before onset of Shab-e-Bara'at. Same is being presented here due to its worthiness:
Shab-e-Bara'at is about to come. On this night, the deeds of all servants are presented in the Exalted Court of Allah. For the sake of the Most Dignified Rasool (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon Him), Allah forgives the sins of the Muslims except that of a few. Among these are those two Muslims who bear mutual hostility for some worldly reasons. Allah says: ‘Leave them as they are, until they mend their relations’.

Ahl-e-Sunnat should end discords and mend relations before sunset of 14th Sha’ban. Fulfil the rights of others; else get waiver so at the book of deeds is presented in His court devoid of rights of others. Regarding the rights of Allah, mere sincere repentance is sufficient. It is mentioned in a Hadith:

Whoever repents of his sin, is as if he has not committed the sin at all. [Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith 4250]

If one abides as advised, (by the grace of Allah) there is a strong hope of forgiveness in this night provided his beliefs are perfect. (He forgives sins and grants mercy)

This practice of bringing brothers in Islam close to settle discords and fulfill the rights of each other is being in effect here since long. Hopefully, you will inculcate this good practice among the Muslims of your environs to become deserving of the reward mentioned in the following narration:

He who initiates a virtuous tradition in Islam, there is reward of it for him and also the reward of all those acting upon it will be written continually in his account of deeds until the Day of Judgement without any decrease in the rewards of those acting upon it.

Pray for this Faqir (lowly servant of Allah) to be blessed with absolution and peace in the world and in the Hereafter! I remember you in supplications and will keep doing so. It should be made clear to all the Muslims that concord and pardon all should be made from core of the heart. Neither mere utterance by tongue is sufficient and nor lip-service is liked in the court of Allah.

Five Blessed Nights

Sayyiduna Abu Umamah Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu has narrated that the Beloved and Blessed Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam has said, ‘There are five nights in which Du’a is not rejected: the first night of Rajab, the 15th night of Sha’ban, the night betweenThursday and Friday, the night of Eid-ul-Fitr and the night of Eid-ul-Adha (the 10th Zul-Hajja-tul-Haram). [Tarikh Dimishq li-ibn 'Asakir, Vol. 10, Page 408]

How to welcome the Night?

On this auspicious night, you should perform fresh Ghusal and Wudu and perform the two Rakaat of Tahhiyatul Wudhu. In every Rakaat, after the Suratul Fatiha, you should read Ayatul Kursi once and Surah Ahad 3 times. Also perform eight Rakaats of Salah with four Salaams. In each Rakaat after the Surah Fatiha, you should read the Ayatul Kursi (once) and Surah Ikhlas fifty times.

What to Recite immediately after Sunset?

After sunset, you should recite “La Hawla walaa Quwwata illa Billahil-aliyil Azeem” forty times with three times Durood Shareef before and after. It is mentioned that by reciting this, Almighty Allah will forgive forty years of your sins and forty Hoors will await to serve you in Jannat al-Firdous.

Countless Mercies

Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (
SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam) has stated: “Verily! Almighty Allah directs His Special Grace on the world on this Night. He forgives my Ummah more than the number of wool that is found on the sheep of the Bani Kalb”. We should remember that in those days the Bani Kalb possessed the most number of sheep that any other tribe.

How great is the Mercy of Almighty Allah on this night that He forgives millions of Muslims. We also realize from this that these numbers can only pertain to the Ahl as-Sunnah wa al-Jama’ah collectively, for the righteous followers of the Hanafi, Shafi’i, Maliki and Hanbali indeed number millions of Muslims.

The visitors of this Night

It is narrated that the departed souls (Arwaah) of the Muslims visit the houses of their friends and relatives on this night and proclaim: “O people of the house! You stay in our houses and enjoy the wealth that we have left behind. You use our children and take work from them, please perform our Esaale Sawaab. Verily our deeds have become complete, while your record of deeds is still spread”.

If the people of the house perform the Esaale Sawaab and Khatam Shareef on this night, then the Arwaah depart will the Sawaab extremely happy and overjoyed all the time making Du’a for the people.

Visit to the Cemetery

Hadrat Ayesha Siddiqah (Radi Allahu Ta’ala Anha) reports: “One night, which was the 15th of Shabaan, I did not find the Beloved Prophet (
SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam) in the house so I went in search of him. After a long search, I found him in al-Baqi' (the cemetery of Madinah) offering Du’a for the deceased and praying for their forgiveness”. [Bayhaqi]

A special point must be made to visit the cemetery during this night and pray for the deceased buried therein, as the Most Beloved Prophet (
SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam) is been reported as having visited the cemetery on this night and spending a long time therein, lamenting, reading and praying for the deceased.

To keep Fast

According to the Hadith Shareef which is narrated by Ibn Hibbaan (Radi Allahu Ta’ala Anhu) that Rasoolullah (
SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: “When the night of 15th Shabaan arrives spend the night awake and keep fast the next day”.

Hadrat Abu Hurairah (radi Allahu ta’ala anhu) reports that the Most Beloved of Allah
(SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said often in his Khutba (sermon): “O people! Lighten and cleanse your bodies by way of fasting during Shabaan, so that it shall be easy and helpful to you for the fast during Ramadan. Whoso fasts for three days during Shabaan, all his past sins are wiped off”. [Bayhaqi]

Sayyiduna Ali Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu has reported that the Holy Prophet (SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said, ‘When the 15th Night of Sha'ban comes, do Qiyam (for worship) in the night and observe fast in the day. No doubt Allah reveals special Divine Manifestation on sky above the earth from the time of sunset and announces, ‘Is there anyone seeking forgiveness so that I may forgive him? Is there anyone seeking sustenance so that I may grant him sustenance? Is there anyone afflicted so that I may relieve his affliction? Is there so and so...’ He keeps announcing it until the time of the Fajr.’ [Sunan Ibn Majah, Vol. 2, Page 160, Hadith 1388]

Fasting is also recommended on the 13th, 14th and 15th of Shabaan.

How to spend the Night?

On this night, perform Nawaafil, recite the Qur’an Shareef, recite abundant Durood Shareef, Istighfaar and Kalima Tayyibah. It is also mentioned that if one reads Surah Dukhan seven times on this night, Almighty Allah will reward you with 70 worldly needs and 70 deeds for the Hereafter.

Do not be amongst deprived of Mercy

Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (
SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: “Almighty Allah forgives all Muslims on this night, besides the fortune tellers, the magicians, the alcoholics, those who disrespect their parents and those who take part and encourage adultery”.

In another narration, the following people have also been mentioned:

  • One who deals in usury (Riba),
  • One who wears his trousers below his ankle with pride and arrogance (In Arabia, people displayed their wealth and boasted in this manner),
  • One who creates disunity among two Muslims,
  • The person who unjustly takes away the right and property of another Muslim and has not yet rectified himself.
All these persons are not shown Mercy on this auspicious Night.

A humble appeal to seek pardon and ask Allah’s forgiveness

Dear Muslim brothers, the Bountiful Allah in His Infinite Mercy has provided us with such an auspicious night so that we may take advantage of it and repent for our sins, and thus obtain His Grace and Favour. It is for us to take full advantage of it. During this night, offer special prayers and repent sincerely for our past sins and ask for His Forgiveness.

Also on this night the Doors of Mercy and Forgiveness are opened wide, and those who sincerely grieve over and repent for their past sins and seek forgiveness from Allah are pardoned and forgiven by the Grace of Allah the Merciful.

Each Tasbih or Du’a should begin and terminate with the recital of Durood Shareef and one who wishes for the acceptance of his Du’as should use the Wasila of Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (
SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam).

It is mentioned in "Gunyah at-Talibeen" that the month of Shaban according to some narrations is related to Rasoolullah (SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam). So, it is our duty, as the Ummat of Rasoolullah (SallAllahu Ta’ala Alaihi wa Sallam) to love and respect this month more than any other month (besides Ramadan). We should also offer abundantly salutations (Salaat-o-Salaam) upon the Most Beloved Prophet (SallAllahu Ta’ala Alaihi wa Sallam).

While we are praying and asking for ourselves and family, we should also remember in our Du’as the Muslim Ummah facing calamities in many parts of the world, that may Allah Ta’ala grant them the strength and Istiqaamat (steadfastness) in Deen. Those weak Muslims who are under pressure from the West and modernisation, may Allah Ta’ala guide them and show them the right path so that they be in touch with their glorious past. Aameen. May Almighty Allah guide us on the path of the Ambiya and the Awliya. Aameen.

Sincere Advice: The performing of Salaat al-Tasbeeh on this night is also very virtuous.

Its all about our Beloved Pakistan

Each One Of You Will Be Questioned About His Responsibility

Both men and women are answerable before ALLAH سبحانه وتعالى for their responsibility.

Ibn 'Umar رضي الله ﺗﻌﺎﻟﯽٰعنه reported that the Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ said:

“Each one of you is entrusted with a responsibility, and each one of you will be questioned about his responsibility. The ruler is responsible (for his people), and will be questioned about his responsibility. The man is responsible for his family, and will be questioned about his responsibility. The women is responsible for her husband's house, and will be questioned about her responsibility. The servant is responsible for his master's property, and will be questioned about his responsibility. And a man is responsible for his father's wealth, and will be questioned about his responsibility. Thus, each one of you has a responsibility, and each one of you will be questioned about his responsibility. ”

10 Rules For A Good Day (Take the Intentions)

1. TODAY I WILL NOT STRIKE BACK: If someone is rude, if someone is impatient, if someone is unkind I will not respond in a like manner.

2. TODAY I WILL ASK GOD TO BLESS MY "ENEMY": If I come across someone who treats me harshly or unfairly, I will quietly ask God to bless that individual. I understand the "enemy" could be a family member, neighbor, co-worker, or a stranger.

3. TODAY I WILL BE CAREFUL ABOUT WHAT I SAY: I will carefully choose and guard my words being certain that I do not spread gossip.

4. TODAY I WILL GO THE EXTRA MILE: I will find ways to help share the burden of another person.

5. TODAY I WILL FORGIVE: I will forgive any hurts or injuries that come my way.

6. TODAY I WILL DO SOMETHING NICE FOR SOMEONE, BUT I WILL NOT DO IT SECRETLY: I will reach out anonymously and bless the life of another.

7. TODAY I WILL TREAT OTHERS THE WAY I WISH TO BE TREATED: I will practice the golden rule - "Do unto others as I would have them do unto me" - with everyone I encounter.

.8. TODAY I WILL RAISE THE SPIRITS OF SOMEONE I DISCOURAGED: My smile, my words, my expression of support, can make the difference to someone who is wrestling life.

9. TODAY I WILL NUTURE MY BODY: I will eat less; I will eat only healthy foods. I will thank God for my body.

10. TODAY I WILL GROW SPIRITUALLY: I will spend a little more time in prayer today: I will begin reading something spiritual or inspirational today; I will find a quiet place (at some point during the day)!

Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said, "The two feet of the son of Adam will not move from near his Lord on the Day of Judgement until he is asked about five (matters) concerning his life - how he spent it; about his youth - how he took care of it; about his wealth - how he earned it; and where he spent it; and about that which he acted upon from the knowledge he acquired." [Tirmidhi]

So there is no escape from being questioned about:

1. Your life - how you spent it. Was it in righteousness and piety or in sin and transgression?

2. Your youth - how you spent it. Was it in acts of obedience or acts of disobedience to Allah?

3. Your wealth - how you acquired it. Was it from that which is halaal or from that which is haraam?

4. Your wealth - how you spent it. Did you give others their rights in it - your relatives, the needy, the orphans, the mujahideen... or did you squander it on yourself alone?

5. Your knowledge - how you acted upon it. How much of your knowledge of Allah’s Deen did you put into practice? Did you study Islam to live by its teachings or did you acquire knowledge of the Quran and hadith to appear knowledgeable with it or gather wealth with it?

These things we seldom think about or question ourselves over. Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) has promised us our sustenance, but not promised us forgiveness. Yet we fret over the acquisition of wealth but not over acquiring Allah’s forgiveness. Doomed is the person who does not question himself, but waits to be questioned!

Islam came to subcontinent

Islam came to subcontinent through a prayer of Prophet Mohammed peace be upon him: When Prophet Mohammed peace be upon him was stoned in Taif for his call toward truth, and he was bleeding profusely, even his shoes filled with his blood. He did not despair and give up on those who stoned him. Later the Angel of mountains asked him, if he wished the whole Taif would be crushed between mountains for stoning a Prophet. Prophet Mohammed peace be upon him refused and made supplication for their guidance and confidently prayed for their children to receive the light of Islam.

After years, in 93 Hijri, the 17 years old Hero - Mohammed bin Qasim, who came to liberate India with 4000 -10000 army was from the children of Taif.

So never give up on people and become judgmental, rather look at the brighter side and hope for the best.

A Brother Like That

Shuaib received an automobile from his brother as an Eid present. On Eid day when Shuaib came out of his house, a street urchin was walking around the shiny new car, admiring it. "Is this your car, Uncle?" he asked. Shuaib nodded. "My brother gave it to me for Eid." The boy was astounded.
"You mean your brother gave it to you and it didn't cost you nothing? Boy, I wish" Hehesitated. Of course Shuaib knew what he was going to wish for. He was going to wish he had a brother like that. But what the lad said jarred Shuaib all the way down to his heels. "I wish," the boy went on, "that I could be a brother like that." Shuaib looked at the boy in astonishment, then impulsively he added, "Would you like to take a ride in my automobile?" "Oh yes, I'd love that."
After a short ride, the boy turned and with his eyes aglow, said, "Uncle, would you mind driving in front of my house?" Shuaib smiled a little. He thought he knew what the lad wanted. He wanted to show his neighbors that he could ride home in a big automobile. But Shuaib was wrong again. "Will you stop where those two steps are?" the boy asked. He ran up the steps. Then in a little while Shuaib heard him coming back, but he was not coming fast. He was carrying his little crippled brother. He sat him down on the bottom step, then sort of squeezed up against him and pointed to the car.
"There it is, little brother, just like I told you upstairs. His brother gave it to him for Eid and it didn't cost him a penny. And some day I'm gonna give you one just like it then you can see for yourself all the pretty things in the Shop windows that I've been trying to tell you about."
Shuaib got out and lifted the boy to the front seat of his car. The shining-eyed older brother climbed in beside him and the three of them began a memorable ride. That Eid, Shuaib learned what the RasulAllah (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) meant when he had said: "love for your brother what you love for yourself".

Today's Food of Thought

THERE’S NEVER A TEARDROP THAT ALLAH (SWT) DON’T SEE HE KNOWS WHEN A SPARROW FALLS FROM A TREE. THERE’S NEVER A MOMENT WHEN ALLAH (SWT) DOESN’T CARE

NEVER A TIME WHEN HE WON’T HEAR OUR PRAYER!

Hundreds of Problems, Millions of Blessings

Being able to focus on your blessings in life is a blessing in itself. There are people who die every day not realizing their full potential because they were never able to change their way of thinking. We should never go through life focusing on the parts of life that we didn't enjoy in the past, and fearing that we won't enjoy the future.

Instead we need to remember that though life has its ups and its downs, the good times we experience will greatly outweigh the bad times. Fill your mind with positive messages, and a habitual dedication to making your life better. We should all know that because we can go until we have nothing left, that the hundreds of problems we may face in each moment are dim in comparison to what blessings Allah has in store for us.

You deserve a great life, don't quit, don't succumb to inferior thinking, you are blessed!
